എം.എ., എം.ഫിൽ. ബിരുദധാരിയാണ്. യുജിസിയുടെ ലക്ചർഷിപ്പ് യോഗ്യതയും ജൂനിയർ റിസർച്ച് ഫെലോഷിപ്പും നേടിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.
'മലയാളസിനിമാനിരൂപണചരിത്രം' എന്ന പ്രബന്ധത്തിലൂടെ 2020-ലെ കേരള സംസ്ഥാന ചലച്ചിത്ര അക്കാദമി ഫെലോഷിപ്പ് നേടി. സാഹിത്യരചനയ്ക്ക് മലയാള മനോരമ, കേരള ഗ്രന്ഥശാല സംഘം, ടി കെ സി വടുതല ഫൗണ്ടേഷൻ, കേരള സർവ്വകലാശാല എന്നിവയുടെ പുരസ്കാരങ്ങൾ ലഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
മനോജ് മനോഹരൻ അവതരിപ്പിച്ച 'സർവ്വകലാശാലകളിലെ സിനിമാഗവേഷണത്തിന്റെ ചരിത്രം', 'മലയാളചെറുകഥാനിരൂപണത്തിന്റെ ചരിത്രത്തെ മുൻനിർത്തിയുള്ള ഗവേഷണപ്രബന്ധം', 'വിജയകൃഷ്ണന്റെ സിനിമാനിരൂപണത്തെ മുൻനിർത്തിയുള്ള ഗവേഷണപ്രബന്ധം' എന്നിവ അക്കാദമിക് രംഗത്തെ മികച്ച സംഭാവനകളാണ്. മൊണ്ടാഷ്, മീസെൻസീൻ എന്നിവയെ മുൻനിർത്തി മനോജ് മനോഹരൻ നടത്തിയ ഗവേഷണവും ശ്രദ്ധേയമാണ്.
'ചലച്ചിത്രസാഹിത്യവും ഗ്രന്ഥസൂചിയും' എന്ന പുസ്തകത്തിന്റെ രചനയ്ക്ക് സത്യജിത് റായ് ഫിലിം സൊസൈറ്റിയുടെ 2021-ലെ ഗോൾഡൻ ആർക് അവാർഡ് സ്പെഷ്യൽ ജൂറി മെൻഷൻ ലഭിച്ചു. സിനിമാനിരൂപണങ്ങൾ കേരള സംസ്ഥാന ചലച്ചിത്ര അക്കാദമിയുടെ ഉൾപ്പെടെയുള്ള പ്രസിദ്ധീകരണങ്ങളിലൂടെ പുറത്തുവന്നിട്ടുണ്ട്.
കേരളസർവ്വകലാശാല, എം.ജി.യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റി, കാലിക്കറ്റ് യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റി എന്നീ സർവ്വകലാശാലകളുടെ കീഴിലുള്ള വിവിധ പഠനവിഭാഗങ്ങളിലും കോളേജുകളിലും ഗസ്റ്റ് അധ്യാപകനായി പ്രവർത്തിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. ശ്രീ നാരായണ ഗുരു ഓപ്പൺ യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റിയിൽ അക്കാദമിക് കൗൺസിലറായും പ്രവർത്തിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
ഹിന്ദി, തമിഴ്, മലയാളം സിനിമകളിൽ അസിസ്റ്റന്റ് ഡയറക്ടറായി പ്രവർത്തിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. സ്വതന്ത്രസിനിമാപ്രവർത്തകനാണ്. സംവിധാനം ചെയ്ത ഹ്രസ്വസിനിമകൾ കേരള സംസ്ഥാന ചലച്ചിത്ര അക്കാദമിയുടെ ചലച്ചിത്രമേളയിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടെ വിവിധ സിനിമാമേളകളിൽ പ്രദർശിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. 2025-ൽ കേരള സർക്കാർ സംഘടിപ്പിച്ച 'കേരള ഫിലിം പോളിസി കോൺക്ലേവ്' (Kerala Film Policy Conclave 2025) പ്രതിനിധിയായി പങ്കെടുത്തിട്ടുണ്ട്.
നിലവിൽ കേരളസർവ്വകലാശാലയിലെ കേരളപഠനവിഭാഗത്തിൽ ഗവേഷകനാണ്.
