Dr. Suja S.
She is a native of Vallikunnam in Alappuzha district.

Father: Ramarajan Vallikunnam was a teacher, writer and lecturer.
Mother: D. Sathiyamma was a school teacher.

She has completed her graduation, post-graduation, B.Ed., M.Phil., UGC. NET and JRF in Malayalam literature. She received her doctorate from the Malayalam Department of the University of Kerala for her study on the problems of novel translation.

She began her teaching career in 2000, serving in various Government U.P. and Higher Secondary Schools. From 2009 to 2013, she served as an Assistant Professor at Malabar Christian College, Kozhikode. She joined the University of Kerala in 2013, initially working in the School of Distance Education until 2021. Currently, she is a Professor of Malayalam and Head of the Department of Kerala Studies. Additionally, she serves as the Editor of the Malayalam Lexicon and as the Honorary Director of the Sree Vidyadhiraja Chattambiswamy International Studies Centre at the University of Kerala.

She is also serving as the Chairperson of the PG Board of Studies in Malayalam at Kannur University; Member of the Governing Body and Academic Council at Mar Ivanios College, Thiruvananthapuram. Member of the Board of Studies in Malayalam at Scott Christian College; Member of the NCERT Textbook Committee; Member of the Translation Cell at the University of Kerala; Advisory Board Member of the School of Literary Studies at Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University; Advisory Committee Member of the Centre for Green Literature Studies at CUSAT; and Coordinator for BA and MA Malayalam programmes at the School of Distance Education, University of Kerala.

She is a former Member of the UG Board of Studies in Malayalam at the University of Kerala and Sree Narayana Guru Open University.

She served as the issue editor of the peer-reviewed research journals Keralapadanam Gaveshanapathrika (ISSN 3139-535X) of the Department of Kerala Studies, University of Kerala, and DEK Researcher (ISSN 2349-6924) of the Department of Distance Education, University of Kerala.

She was a news reader at the Thiruvananthapuram Doordarshan Centre for 5 years from 2007. She has also worked as a news reader and 'Kavyanjali' anchor at All India Radio, Kozhikode.

She has done projects on the subject of 'Poetics in the Works of Sree Narayana Guru' with UGC funding and on the subject of 'Akasavani and Malayalam Literature' with State Government funding.

She has authored two books: Maunam Udayumbol (a collection of poems) and Vaakkinte Vajrasoochikal: Saahithyavum Samskaaravum Samakaalika Vichaarangalum (a collection of critical essays). Additionally, she has edited two academic volumes, Vivarasaankethikavidya: Vijnjanavum Prayogavum and Maadhyamangal: Achadiyil Ninnu Social Mediayilekku. She has also published numerous research papers in UGC-CARE list journals, peer-reviewed journals and other prominent academic publications.
